CHICAGI, ILLINOIS.- The Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust announces the 2003 Sunday ARCHI TREK Tour series. Scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, April through November, these entertaining tours feature a distinctive historically significant style of architecture in the Oak Park and River Forest communities just west of Chicago.
Kicking off the 2003 schedule Sunday, April 6th is the Victorian Walking Tour which surveys Oak Park’s exceptional collection of Victorian homes. This popular 90-minute guided walking tour includes brilliant examples of various styles of Victorian homes, including Queen Anne, Italianate and Stick style. Also offered Sunday, October 5th.
The May 4th Sunday ARCHI TREK Tour is the River Forest Walking Tour which examines River Forest’s wealth of significant architecture featuring Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes and other exceptional architectural works during a 90-minute walking tour. Also offered Sunday, September 7th.
Join the June 1st Prairie Bicycle Tour as it pedals by an amazing collection of Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes. Making its way through Oak Park’s wealth of Prairie style structures, this 90-minute cycling tour requires participant to provide their own bicycles. Also offered Sunday, August 3rd .
The fourth tour in the Sunday series, the Oak Park Walking Tour, takes place July 6th and features exterior views of 24 buildings designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his contemporaries. The 90-minute walking tour showcases the world’s greatest concentration of Wright-designed structures, making Oak Park an outdoor museum of architectural history. Also offered Sunday, November 2rd.
Each tour starts at 2pm from various addresses and costs $9 for adults, $7 for youth (18 & under) or senior (65+).
