DEL HAVEN, NJ.- The Guerin’s didn’t build just any vacation home; they chose a unique, round house to fit their lifestyle and location on the Delaware Bay near Cape May, NJ.
“We wanted to create a home that would be open, energy efficient and resistant to the winds coming off the Bay. We built a Deltec home to achieve our goals,” explains Dr. John Guerin.

The first round house experience for Cape May builder Bob Obermeier, of Town Bank Builders went very well. “I was amazed at the sturdiness of the home. I really like the house and would recommend it to anyone building in high wind areas. The quality of the building materials were over and above my expectations. All components were heavy duty and the house is very sturdy,” according to Bob.
People find a round home is earth friendly, durable and healthier to live in. A circular home requires less of a footprint than traditional box houses, withstands hurricane force winds and is symbolic of wholeness and completion.
The circular shape allows for less surface area per square foot than a standard home so there is less to heat/cool. In addition, with outstanding aerodynamics, wind literally flows around the home consequently cutting air leakage and further lowering energy costs.
“The open floor plan of the Deltec design is perfect for entertaining our friends, family and clients. We looked at dome homes, but preferred the
Deltec because it doesn’t have sloping walls,” said John.
