| Lincoln U. To Keep Control of Barnes |

PHILADELPHIA.- Julian Bond, a chairman of the NAACP, is fighting a court petition that would dilute the influence of Lincoln University over the Barnes Foundation. Julian Bond is the son of Lincoln University President Horace Mann Bond, who helped the black college get the control of this art collection. The Barnes Foundation wants to move its collection from a Philadelphia suburb to the city. The will left by Dr. Albert Barnes in 1951 forbids such a move. He had said in his will he wanted the art to stay in a gallery in suburban Lower Merion Township.
The proposal submitted by the foundation in Montgomery County Orphans’ Court would move the art and dilute Lincoln University’s influence on the board.
