GATESHEAD.- Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art announced a new media partnership with international satellite broadcaster BSkyB’s arts channel Sky Arts.

The joint venture began in October 09, centers on Baltic’s autumn season and culminates in a documentary Sky Arts at Baltic to be broadcast in December across the Sky Arts television channels and website.

The program features interviews from internationally recognized Magnum photographer Martin Parr and cultural icon Malcolm McLaren, both of whom are currently exhibiting at Baltic. In addition to capturing footage of the current exhibitions Sky Arts at Baltic will also feature interviews with North East based artist Fiona Crisp and Baltic’s Director Godfrey Worsdale.

Aerian Rogers, Baltic Head of Development who secured the partnership commented: “It is a great pleasure to have Sky Arts as a media partner for our autumn season. Through their commitment we have been given the opportunity to bring Baltic’s latest exhibitions directly into the homes of millions of viewers, introducing Baltic to many new art enthusiasts across the world.”

"Baltic is one of the best places to see art in the North East , and we are delighted to showcase its current exhibitions to wider audience.” comments John Cassy, Channel Director of Sky Arts.

As part of the partnership Baltic offered one lucky Sky Arts viewer the opportunity to meet music, fashion and art legend Malcolm McLaren at a private viewing of his latest work Paris, Capitol of the 21st Century followed by dinner at Baltic’s award winning rooftop restaurant Six.

Sky Arts at Baltic will be shown from Monday 30 December. Sky Arts can be accessed through Sky’s Style & Culture package. Sky Arts can also be received through Virgin Media XL package with Sky Arts 1 on 284 and Sky Arts 2 on 285 and Sky Arts 1 is also available on Tiscali channel 114.
