Coffin in Street Confused for Performance Art

SANTIAGO, CHILE.- A coffin that was in the street was thought to be a surreal art performance to pay homage to surreal painter Roberto Matta who died this past Saturday. The coffin was left lying in the road after a car crash.  because police and passers-by thought it was a surreal art performance. The car carrying the body of Nelson Contreras was hit by a truck in Eistein, leaving the coffin and flowers in the street. No-one helped the Contreras family to pick up the coffin or gather the scattered flowers. Osvaldo Brandt, nephew of the dead man, reported to the press: "The whole thing was surreal. The truck hit us so hard the coffin and all the flowers came down in the middle of the road. After almost one hour we managed to get a cab, put the coffin inside and continue our way to the cemetery."
