Guggenheim Foundation Named Lauren Hinkson New Assistant Curator for Collections

NEW YORK, NY.- This autumn, the Guggenheim Foundation named Lauren Hinkson the new Assistant Curator for Collections.

Hinkson comes to the Guggenheim Museum from the Museum of Modern Art, New York, where she was a Senior Cataloguer in the Department of Prints and Illustrated Books. Her multifaceted position there included overseeing the department’s acquisition of the Art & Project Archive, for which she received MoMA’s Lee Tenenbaum Award for leadership and collaboration.

While at MoMA, Hinkson also had the opportunity to assist with collection exhibitions, including the recent Geo/Metric: Prints and Drawings from the Collection and Wunderkammer: A Century of Curiosities. She has also held a fellowship at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum where she performed Nazi-era provenance research, and has recently presented a paper at the University of Southern Florida on the role of vision technologies in Charles and Ray Eameses 1977 film Powers of Ten.

A graduate of Brown University, where she earned a BA in the History of Art and Architecture, Hinkson will assume responsibilities for the Solomon R. Guggenheim collection previously handled by Ted Mann, who departed the museum in 2008 to pursue a Ph.D. in art history at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.
