PORTLAND, OR.- This holiday season, the
Portland Art Museum is giving a special gift to the community: 2-for-1 museum admission. Every Thursday from November 13 through January 8, 2009, visitors will receive two adult general admission tickets for the price of one between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. Holidays are excluded.
“Providing access to the museum, its exhibitions, and collections has always been one of my top priorities,” said Brian J. Ferriso, The Marilyn H. and Dr. Robert B. Pamplin, Jr. Director. “Given our current economy, we recognize that people may have little money budgeted for entertainment. Offering 2-for-1 admission helps lessen the impact on visitors’ pocketbooks and gives Oregonians the opportunity to enjoy Wild Beauty, a ‘must-see’ exhibition for local residents.”
Wild Beauty presents approximately 250 historic images that chronicle the beauty and changing character of the Gorge while reflecting the changing styles and technologies of landscape photography. Whether viewed as important historic records or extraordinary works of art, the images in Wild Beauty are some of the most striking and poignant pictures taken of this majestic Northwest landscape.
“This exhibition captures a moment in the history of art that is locally based and internationally significant,” said Ferriso.
The limited-time offer only applies to adult, student, and senior admissions. The Museum already has free general admission to children ages 17 and younger, thanks to a gift of $1 million to the Art Access Endowment earlier this year.
