LONDON.- In its final exhibition ever, The Aquarium L-13 stages an informal survey of Billy Childish’s most recent work, whist the rest of the gallery closes down around him. The cult artist, poet and song-writer Billy Childish, will present a collection of his latest paintings, books, records, pamphlets, poems, prints, letters, film, photographs …and in addition, a book of apology letters fabricated by the artist himself, featuring comments from characters in his life, at long last heralding the Hero of the British Art Resistance for his achievements.

Nicholas Serota, Damien Hirst, Jay Joplin and Billy’s mother, are amongst those who are regretful for their underestimation of Chidish’s potential, praising his “dedication and refusal to compromise” and admiring his skill to “draw real good, paint, write and play punk rock”.

At the height of its success, THE AQUARIUM L-13 will close for good on 23rd December 2008 and at some point in 2009 the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop and Private Ladies and Gentlemen’s Club for Art Leisure and the Disruptive Betterment of Culture will open at a secret location somewhere in Clerkenwell, London.

Being a survey of friendly protests and other creative acts, wholly illustrating the artist’ verve, love, wisdom, and wit, forged thru spiritual engagement with life and self, in a climate of creative constipation, impotence and aspirational fear, heralded and compounded by an insular moribund and timid cultural and critical elite.
