Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino Receive Wright Spirit Award

CHICAGO.- Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino, principals of Tarantino Studios, have received a Wright Spirit Award in the private category from The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. The award, which “honors original or subsequent Wright homeowners who have rescued a building or have demonstrated outstanding stewardship in its conservation,” was presented on September 20 during the Conservancy’s 2008 conference in Western Pennsylvania.

The Tarantino’s have been meticulous stewards of the Bachman-Wilson Residence (1954) in Millstone, New Jersey. They acquired the neglected residence in 1988 and restored and rebuilt the home according to Wright’s original drawings. Subsequently, they have rescued the house on more than one occasion from the ravages of nature. Their determination to maintain the home to remarkably high standards earned them the Wright Spirit Award. Tarantino Architect is also the recipient of the 2008 AIA / NJ Design Award in the Preservation Category for the Bachman-Wilson House.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy, a non-profit founded in 1989, is an international historic preservation organization whose mission is to facilitate the preservation of the remaining structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright through education, advocacy, preservation easements and technical services.
