Colorado Artist Carl Reed to Install Sculpture on Prexy's Pasture

LARAMIE.- Colorado sculptor Carl Reed is scheduled to install a new sculpture on the University of Wyoming Prexy's Pasture Monday, July 28. It is the final work to be installed on Prexy's Pasture for the major outdoor exhibition, "Sculpture: A Wyoming Invitational," organized by the UW Art Museum.

Reed's sculpture, "Braced Ring with Outlyer," is an eight-foot steel ring braced by two stone structures with an additional disconnected stone structure.

The "outlyer" is not unassociated, however, as viewers will discover and find visual relationships between the two forms as they walk by.

Reed's commissions for large-scale sculpture in Colorado include the sculptural entry to Packard Hall at Colorado College; University of Northern Colorado; Front Range Community College; University of Colorado School of Pharmacy; and the city of Sterling. Selected solo exhibitions include OK Harris (New York); Ruch Bachofner Gallery (Santa Monica, Calif.); Inkfish Gallery (Denver); University of Arizona Art Gallery (Tucson); and Foothills Art Center (Golden, Colo.) Reed is a professor of art at Colorado College and is represented by Robischon Gallery in Denver.

Reed's sculpture is one of 17 works that comprise "Sculpture: A Wyoming Invitational," an exhibition of public art on the UW campus and in Laramie. The exhibition officially opens Friday, Sept. 12, from 4-6 p.m. on Prexy's Pasture.
