SAN SEBASTIAN.- From July 19th to October 5th, Tabakalera will showcase the work of 25 artists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Thirty works of art will reveal some of the latest, most ground-breaking art in combination with works from the past several decades to give audiences an overview of some of the most significant trends in art from the 1960s to today.

Large-scale installations by foremost Brazilian artists such as Cildo Meireles, Valeska Soares and Ernesto Neto will introduce viewers to the more sensual and sensorial aspects of the exhibition. The exhibition will also include works that show us a more conceptual approach, infused with powerful political and social messages. The maximum exponent in this line is Uruguayan artist and theoretician, Luis Camnitzer, whose work will share the space at Tabakalera with later generations, all of whom have a penchant for conceptual art and close communication with the spectator. Cuban artists Iván Capote and Antonio Eligio Fernández (aka, 'Tonel'), Brazilian-born Antonio Días, and Costa Rican artist Priscilla Monge are a few of the artists that fit into this category. The exhibition will also feature a range of audio-visual works, including video installations, projections
and other works more closely linked to the field of cinematography.

This project is the result of a collaborative effort between Tabakalera and the Daros-Latinamerica collection. Headquartered in Zürich, this collection is known not only for the quality of its works of art but also for its approach – art collecting as a means of building channels of communication between Latin American artists, providing a showcase for their artwork and raising their profile internationally.
