LUCERNE.-The Museum of Art in Lucerne presents the exhibit Swiss Video Art from the 70s and 80s: A Reconstruction through May 4. With video installations and video tapes by Swiss artists, some from the store-rooms of the artistss studios, the exhibition focuses upon the beginnings of video art in Switzerland and its developments until the end of the 1980s. The presentation lays particular emphasis on authenticity and on a comprehensive experience of the works spatial aspects, the way in which they act as installations, and also their acoustic qualities. The reflection of performance practice seeks to intensivy an awareness of this transient mdium. At the same time it takes as its theme a historical era of video art which is of great importance for contemporary discourse.
