SANTA BARBARA, CA.-Writer, painter, and multi-media artist Liam O'Gallagher, 90, died at his home in Santa Barbara, California. He had an abstract expressionist style in his paintings. He was born in Born William Gallagher in Oakland, California, on October 2, 1917. In 1945 he moved to the Monterey Peninsula. In 1946 he went to Greenwich Village in New York to study painting. In 1948 he returned to the West Coast. He was then invited to teach art at the Happy Valley School which was founded by the Indian philosopher J. Krishnamurti, and the writer Aldous Huxley. He commissioned Isamu Noguchi to design a residence in Carmel, which was neverbuilt. A model of the house is in the collection of the Oakland Museum.
