DENVER, CO.- Abstract painter Michael Tetherow, 65, died due to complications of from rheumatoid arthritis, reported The New York Times. Michael Tetherow was born in Tacoma, Wash. He studied art at Puget Sound University and at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. He later studied a bachelor of fine art degree at the San Francisco Art Institute. His first exhibition took place at the Bykert Gallery in New York in 1974. In 1978 he exhibited at the Robert Miller Gallery. Jason McCoy held nine exhibitions on him since 1984. The Dallas Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art are some museums that hold some of his works.
