LIVERPOOL, UK.-A photograph of Emma Holt, the final resident of Sudley House, has just gone on display at the south Liverpool attraction from Wednesday 19 December. The photograph shows Emma, the daughter of Victorian ship magnate George Holt, at about six years old and dates from around 1868. The evocative photograph gives a fascinating insight into the girl who would eventually leave Sudley House and its fabulous art collection to the city of Liverpool when she died in 1944.
Bequeathed to National Museums Liverpool by the late Julian Holt, an indirect descendent of George Holts family, the photograph is thought to be one of only two of Emma Holt as a child in existence.
