MIAMI, FL.- The Patricia and Philip Frost Art Museum at Florida International University presents the BFA Fall 2007 Exhibition on Friday, December 21, featuring works of art by the graduating Fine Arts students. An opening reception begins at 7 p.m. The exhibit will be on view through January 19, 2008.This annual exhibition showcases the cumulative work of the 2007 undergraduate students: Cristina Aballi, Karon E. Baquedano, Nanette Charles, Andrés G. Erazo, Ana García, Kristy González, E.J.Greaves, Ivania Guerrero, Cinthya Guillén, Chad Harris, Jilllian May, Javier Proenza, Diani Safdeye and Jaime Alberto Segui. The art work featured in the exhibition can be seen online at bfa.fiu.edu, which is the exhibition's official catalog.

"The BFA program is our strongest and oldest Visual Art program at FIU. Their work is surprisingly mature for students who are at the start of their careers" said Juan Martinez, director of the School of Art + Art History.

The first annual BFA exhibition at The Frost Art Museum was held in 1979. Many students who have exhibited their work here have become acclaimed artists. BFA exhibition alumni include sculptor Teresita Fernandez, Class of 1990, winner of the coveted MacArthur "Genius" grant in 2005 and its $500,000 prize. Fernandez has had two dozen solo exhibitions including a recent show at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York.

As part of the BFA 2007 Exhibition, the museum's Wednesdays After-Hours program will present the artists on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 7 p.m., where the artists will talk about the concepts behind their works at the museum.
