WICHITA, KS.- Emily Stamey has been selected as curator of modern and contemporary art for the Ulrich Museum. She will help direct artistic programming at the Ulrich--from organizing exhibitions to building the collection and designing innovative gallery interpretation. Stamey, who begins January 28, holds a bachelor's of arts degree in art history from Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA, and earned a master's of art degree in art history from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Currently, she is completing her PhD in art history at KU and is writing her dissertation on Roger Shimomura, a nationally prominent artist and distinguished professor emeritus of performance and painting at the University of Kansas. Her appointment concludes a national search after Katie Geha left the Ulrich in August to pursue a PhD in art history from the University of Texas-Austin.
