AKRON, OH.- Mary Ellen Mark, the 1998 winner of the Knight Award, is one of the most highly esteemed documentary photographers of our time. Mark is a featured artist in Prized Images: The Knight Purchase Award for Photographic Media 1991 - 2006, on view at the Akron Art Museum through October 14, 2007. She has 30 images on view that follow over two decades in the life of Tiny, a Seattle street kid that Mark first met in 1983.

Join the Akron Art Museum on Sunday, September 23 and Sunday, September 30 for two programs related to Mark’s poignant photographs.

This gritty, Oscar nominated documentary looks at the lives of nine teenagers living on the streets of Seattle . See Tiny, the young street kid made famous in Mary Ellen Mark’s photographs, come to life on the big screen. Created by Martin Bell and Mary Ellen mark with music by Tom Waits.

Tickets: $10 for non-members, $5 for members and students
Tickets go on sale at the museum 11 am the day of the lecture.

A featured artist in Prized Images, Mark will set her works on view at the Akron Art Museum into the context of her four-decade long career.

A book signing will follow the lecture. The retrospective book Exposure will be for sale in the Museum Store. Limited quantities available.

Free parking is available on weekends in the High Street municipal garage directly across the street from the entrance of the Akron Art Museum.
