Future Stars of Contemporary Art in Montrouge

MONTROUGE, FRANCE.- The 2006 edition attracted more than 5 000 visitors in Montrouge and almost 15 000 in the partnering cities presenting the traveling exhibition. The 2007/2009 edition becomes a biennale and a reference for discovering new artistic talents at the European scale. This year, artists’ mobility is enhanced: travels, residencies in participating countries, debates and conferences in each of the cities where the exhibition will travel, blogs on the Internet... For emerging artists, the Salon JCE is a real opportunity to meet the public and art professionals.

Initiated by the city of Montrouge and its mayor Jean-Loup Metton, the event actively supports young artists as it has developed, at the European scale, a network of partnering cities. A context of dynamic cultural exchanges is thus established between artists, countries, cities, professionals and cultural institutions.

This federation of partnering cities is growing and offers a large overview of artistic creation in the various countries of the European Union. The city of Montrouge aims at gathering 15 European countries by 2015. 85 emerging artists selected in 11 european countries first exhibited in Montrouge and in 5 partnering cities. 1 round-table conference in partnership with Journal des Arts open to the public and to art professionals. 1 opening party, Nuit Ecarlate, for art students of the Paris area. 1 Grand Price for the Jeune Création Européenne. 2 artists’ studios open in Montrouge.
