MONTREAL.- The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts presents Klee Wyck, Canada, Graham McInnes, 1946, 15 min, in English, Friday August 17 at 6 p.m. at the Auditorium Maxwell-Cummings. Canadian painter Emily Carr (1871-1945) was nicknamed Klee Wyck, the Laughing One. This film, directed by a young historian who was among the first to publicize Carrs work, attests to the artists impact in her own era as well as to the myths that arose after her death.
The film will be followed byA Woman of All Sorts, Canada, Hugh Beard, 1997, 57 min, in English. This documentary film revisits the life and work of Emily Carr, a half-century after her death. We meet historians and curators of Canadian collections who reveal the leading role that Emily Carr played in the development of twentieth-century Canadian art.
Guided Tours until September 23, Thursdays, in French at 13: 30 and et 18 hrs. In English at 2: 30 and 6 :30 pm. Saturdays, in French 10:30 and in English at 11 a.m. Free with admission to the exhibition. Meeting place: Lobby of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion.
