SAO PAULO, BRAZIL.- Egoscope is a personality fully mediated by media, composed of fragments distributed in many web sites. egoscope does not have a name, age, neither a specific gender. It is a disembodied post-subject that can not recognize itself in any space that it is not a telecommunication environment. You will choose egoscope multiple identities, by the web, and they will be revealed on two electronic panels and their web cams. egoscope lives in the limit between art, propaganda and information, promoting a permanent state of disorientation and hybridism of these terms. In a phrase, egoscope is an inhabitant of the global city made in this teleintervention of processes of passivity and interaction, entropy and acceleration. egoscope is a post-subject being mediated by global nets, someone operated by telecommunication systems, an archetype and a redundancy of all media available on line.
We don’t know egoscope’s gender, age and nationality. It is a mutant personality produced by trademarks, gadgets and images, who results of processes of entropy, congestion and acceleration.
egoscope is a kind of alter-ego of the urban culture of 21st century, a disembodied character, made of reprocessed and recycled media fragments, centered in the Web and distributed in two electronic panels of São Paulo, of 20 m2 each, situated at Faria Lima Avenue, in front of Shopping Center Iguatemi.
How egoscope looks like? Which are egoscope’s favorite web sites? egoscope reads? What are egoscope’s readings, listening etc? Does egoscope lives in an apartment, has an address, a car, a motorcycle? What kind of clothes egoscope wears? Does egoscope eat fast food? What kind of restaurant egoscope goes? Is egoscope addicted to something? What does /Where does egoscope go by night?
The answers for all those questions are on line. You choose and submit an URL, by the web, and it will be uploaded to the e-panels server, converted to VGA mode and sent to the e-panel.
The URLs will appear as advertisements in the electronic panels, dispersed among other adds, as if they were common propaganda, the only format that makes egoscope recognize itself.
Drivers and pedestrians certainly will understand some of these URL as one more advertisement. Some of them will shock, probably. Nevertheless, the street audience will be submitted to the same processes of interaction and passivity of our protagonist.
All material captured by server that manages the e-panels can be checked on line, by images shot with web cams located below the e-panels.
The web sites will appear following the submissions order and according to the panel schedule (1 insertion of 10" every 3’). Some of them can appear twice or more times, depending on the users choices and on the on line traffic.
Paradoxically, it is only on the Web, the most fragmented media and space, where it will be possible to have an unified vision on egoscope.
Nevertheless, egoscope references should not compose an imaginary picture, a fake cut & paste body.
As it was said before egoscope is a post-subject, and because of this is "no-ontological", has many faces, identities, is multiple, fragmented and distributed.
