BERLIN.- [DAM]Berlin introduces in it's newest exhibition the artist couple boredomresearch from England. It's their first solo-show in Germany. Even so they are already known to Insiders. One of their most important earlier pieces "Ornamental Bug Garden", 2004, caused a stir at the exhibition at transmediale 2005 in Berlin. One journalist Regine Debatty wrote in her blog www.we-make-money-not-art.com.
"Even if you understand nothing about the Ornamental Bug Garden piece (and I'm not sure I understand the work at 100%), its sheer beauty is such that you'd want to take the installation and install it in your bedroom to gaze at it during hours."
Beside this one there are more software-objects part of the show, which are coming alive due to the programs written by boredomresearch. The biomes for example develop over the years and show new forms again and again.
Vicky Isley and Paul Smith are boredomresearch. They live in the south of England and teach at Bournemouth University since 2005. A catalogue featuring all artworks and a text by Paul Brown is available.
