From Titian to Goya - Great Masters Opens in Beijing

BEIJING, CHINA.- The National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) presents From Titian to Goya - Great Masters From The Museo del Prado, on view through August 25, 2007. The exhibition, which is being held to celebrate the "Year of Spain in China", consists of 51 pieces from the Prado Museum's collection of paintings. The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate the riches of the collection through a selection which includes masterpieces from the Spanish, Italian, Flemish, French, Dutch and German Schools from the 16th Century to the beginning of the 19th Century. Among the artists chosen for the exhibition, El Greco, Velázquez, Ribera, Zurbarán, Murillo, Goya, Tiziano, Veronés, Reni, Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens, Claude Lorrain, Poussin, Boucher, Mengs and Tiépolo stand out.

The theme of the exhibition is structured around four sections describing the origins of the paintings, their roots and their history: The Royal Collections of Spain, the incorporation of the Trinidad Museum, acquisitions by the Spanish State and donations and inheritance from private individuals.
