Fondazione Biscozzi │ Rimbaud survey brings private Salento collections to Lecce
Carla Accardi, Settori rossonero, 1989.

LECCE.- In the heart of the historic centre of Lecce, Fondazione Biscozzi | Rimbaud carries out a cultural project conceived by Luigi Biscozzi and Dominique Rimbaud, a couple who wished to make their contemporary art collection, gathered over the years, accessible to the public.

Founded in 2018, the Foundation includes in its collection artworks by Italian and international artists, with a particular focus on the artistic production from the 1960s to the present. The collection marks the starting point for a programme that combines a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions, talks, educational activities, and research and in-depth study projects.

The seasonal exhibitions programme officially began in 2021 with an exhibition dedicated to Angelo Savelli. Since then, the venue of the Foundation has hosted artistic projects dedicated to the key figures and leading artists of modern and contemporary art, including Grazia Varisco, Sandro Chia, Filippo de Pisis and Gianni Bertini, developing an itinerary that promotes the dialogue between the valorization of the collection and new opportunities for research and discussion.

It is in this context that the exhibition “A Room with a View. Italian and international art in private collections in Salento (1963-2015)” takes place, open to the public from 27 September 2026 to 10 January 2027, curated by Paolo Bolpagni and Lorenzo Madaro.

The exhibition proposes itself as a first survey on contemporary art collecting in Salento. A phenomenon observed not like an optional or an episodic one, but in terms of a free and articulated cultural plot.

The exhibition explores the link between collecting, the local area and contemporary culture, questioning the transition from the domestic sphere to the institutional space and from the individual choice to the construction of a possible collective narration.

The exhibition brings together 27 works by Italian and international artists, presenting a selection that spans over fifty years of artistic exploration, from 1963 to 2015. There are works by Carla Accardi, A-One (Anthony Clark), Stefano Arienti, Massimo Bartolini, Gabriele Basilico, Mirella Bentivoglio, Joseph Beuys, Luigi Ghirri, Peter Halley, Jannis Kounellis, Giuseppe Maraniello, Nunzio, Luigi Ontani, Mimmo Paladino, Pino Pinelli, Mimmo Rotella, Andrea Sala, Mario Schifano, Ettore Spalletti and Franco Vimercati.

Through this project, Biscozzi | Rimbaud Foundation confirms its aim to create a venue in Lecce that brings together private collecting, art-historical research and an international audience, thereby promoting dialogue between the cultural heritage of Salento and the modern and contemporary art scene.
