National Museums Liverpool welcomes new board members
Oliver Enwonwu joins National Museum Liverpool’s Board of Trustees.

LIVERPOOL.- Artist, curator and museum Trustee, Oliver Enwonwu, and Katie Wray, a Director in Deloitte's Real Estate team joined the Board on 1 October 2026.

Oliver Enwonwu FRSA, FRAI, FSNA is a cultural leader, artist, curator and publisher whose career spans museums, heritage, the visual arts, publishing and public engagement. He has held senior leadership and governance roles across cultural and civic organisations in the United Kingdom and internationally, including serving as President of the Society of Nigerian Artists and on the Board of the National Gallery of Art, Nigeria. He is Executive Director of the Ben Enwonwu Foundation and Founder and Publisher of Omenka, through which he has advanced research, dialogue and public understanding of modern and contemporary art.

Alongside his governance and cultural leadership work, Oliver maintains an active artistic practice exploring memory, identity, spirituality and cultural inheritance. He has delivered lectures at Stanford University, Florida International University and Christie’s Education, and participated in public conversations at Tate Modern. His wider interests encompass collections, cultural heritage, public engagement, placemaking and the role of museums in creating inclusive and culturally confident communities.

Katie Wray is a Director in Deloitte's Real Estate team, where she provides specialist advice on complex regeneration and placemaking projects across the UK, along with leading the national heritage team. With an academic background encompassing history, planning, and architectural conservation, Katie brings a unique blend of historical insight and practical development expertise. Her career spans significant roles in both the private sector, including Arup and The Co-operative Group, before joining Deloitte, where she works on significant long term regeneration schemes such as Mayfield and NOMA in Manchester. Katie is a recognised thought leader, frequently speaking at industry events and contributing to podcasts such as '50 Shades of Planning'. She previously served on Historic England's Places Panel, advising local authorities on the management of historic environments. Her expertise lies in bridging the gap between conservation principles and the economic realities of property development, ensuring sustainable outcomes for heritage assets. Deeply rooted in Liverpool, with family connections to the city's maritime heritage, she is passionate about preserving cultural assets and fostering new talent in the built environment professions.

Four existing Trustees have also been reappointed for a second term. From February 2027, Dinah Birch, John Belchem, Lynn Collins and Anna Farthing will continue on the Board for another four years.

This follows on from the appointment of seven new Trustees earlier this year.

Andrea Nixon, Chair of the Board at National Museums Liverpool, said: “It has been a really exciting time this year welcoming nine new Trustees to the Board.

“It’s been just over a year since I was appointed Chair of the Board and I’m delighted to have welcomed a fantastic breadth of experience, knowledge and skills to the Board, alongside our existing Trustees.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing to support the organisation in delivering the vision of the leadership team to keep creating memorable experiences and challenging expectations for everyone.”
