New Tiger book by former curator released by The Tank Museum
Brand new book uncovers the political intrigue, competing personalities, industrial rivalries, and military ambitions that shaped history’s most notorious tank.

DORSET.- Countless authors have examined what the Tiger did on the battlefield. Few have explored how it came to exist in the first place – and none have done so in this much detail.

The latest The Tank Museum publication, Tiger Tank: By Order of the Führer, draws on former curator David Willey’s decades of research and his unique experience working with Tiger 131 – the world's most renowned surviving Tiger tank.

Using rare photographs and material from The Tank Museum’s Archive, Willey challenges long-held assumptions and separates historical reality from wartime myth.

“Feared by its enemies, admired by enthusiasts and immortalised in military history, the Tiger has become one of the most iconic fighting vehicles ever built,” says Tank Museum Chief Operating Officer, Simon Prager.

“David gives a fresh perspective on the forces that brought the Tiger tank into being, covering Hitler's influence, Nazi politics, military demands, and industrial competition.”

Sold exclusively by the Museum, the book is expected in December, and a limited number of signed copies are available. Pre-order before the 26 October to get your name in the acknowledgements.
