LONDON.- RM Sothebys flagship London auction will return on 31 October 2026, taking its traditional position on the eve of the RM Sothebys London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. Following the success of last years £24-million sale, the auction will be held for the third successive year at The Peninsula London in Belgravia. This years sale is shaping up to be another wonderful event with incredible cars spanning over 125 years of automotive history.
Very much the markets car of the moment, many eyes will be on the 1988 Ferrari F40 The Ferrari F40. The car on offer was delivered new to Ferrari dealer Sa.Mo.Car SpA of Rome and later exported to Japan, where it was subsequently fitted with a host of race-inspired modifications, including lightweight bodywork, OMP race seats with multi-point harnesses, a MOMO steering wheel, carbon-fibre rear wing, Setrab intercooler, and suspension upgrades, as well as F50 gear knob and rear-view mirrors. Significantly, the car is amongst the first 50 cars produced and so is therefore considered to be one of the most desirable of all production F40s, as a number of them unusual features and were all non-cat, non-adjust, sliding plexiglass window examples. Collectors consider these to be the purest form of an F40 that is closest to a race car. Presented in its factory-correct Rosso Corsa over Stoffa Vigogna colour combination, and while this car has been modified from original, but presents an ideal candidate to be brought back to its original configuration (Estimate: £1,800,000 - £2,400,000).
The London sale also boasts a 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé, being one of only 150 coupé examples of Aston Martins ultimate road-legal hypercar. With single ownership from new and displaying just 258 kilometres from new, the car features an incredible bespoke specification which added almost £235,000 to the original list price.
Exquisitely finished in Zenith White with Blue-tinted exposed carbon fibre and Midnight Blue exterior accents over a Blue and Dark Knight Alcantara interior, this 1,160 horsepower masterpiece is estimate at £1,800,000 - £2,400,000.
Also on offer is a 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.8, one of only 55 examples of the Carrera RS 3.8 built and considered to be the ultimate air-cooled RS Porsche. Delivered new to Spain, the car has been used sparingly by its sole owner since 1993 and believed to be the only 964-gen 911 Carrera RS 3.8 finished in paint-to-sample Zermatt Silver Metallic. Additional equipment included front bucket seats, 18-inch painted RS Cup alloy wheels and wide bodykit, this outstanding 10, 210 kilometres car is estimated at £800,000 - £1,000,000.
The 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster offered in London is notable for being the penultimate 300 SL Roadster built and one of only three delivered in 1964. Boasting a rare and highly desirable specification with an alloy engine, disc brakes, and factory hardtop, it retains its matching-numbers chassis, body, gearbox, kingpins and rear axle and is presented in its factory-correct colours of White over the original Red leather interior (Estimate: £1,100,000 - £1,300,000).
The 1903 Clément AC4R 12/16 HP Rear-Entrance Tonneau, is a fitting addition to the sale, which RM Sothebys conducts in partnership with The Royal Automobile Club and the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. This wonderful Veteran is an exceptional, powerful four-cylinder automobile with well-known enthusiast history since the 1930s, and is an excellent restored and well-preserved original example, and successful participant in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on many occasions (Estimate: £350,000 - £450,000 GBP).
For Bentley enthusiasts, its hard to overlook the spectacular 1953 Bentley B Special Blue Train Recreation by Racing Green. This compelling car was hand-crafted crafted by UK-based specialist Racing Green, built around a Bentley R-Type Saloon chassis and fitted with the higher-performance 6.5-litre B81 straight-eight engine option and a desirable automatic transmission. The impressive specification includes three integrated drinks cabinets and fitted tool kit and is offered by the commissioning owner with fewer than 4,000 kilometres (2,485 miles) driven since completion (Estimate: £370,000 - £430,000).
