AMSTERDAM.- Prof. Christoph Grunenberg, Director of Kunsthalle Bremen, has joined the Van Gogh Museum Supervisory Board. The museum is privileged to add an internationally renowned museum director and art historian with extensive governance and curatorial experience to its Board.

Grunenberg has more than thirty years of international experience in the museum world. Before becoming Director of Kunsthalle Bremen, he was Director of Tate Liverpool and curator at Tate in London. He previously held positions at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, Kunsthalle Basel and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. Throughout his career, he organised numerous major international exhibitions and published extensively on modern and contemporary art.

The Van Gogh Museum and the Kunsthalle Bremen have long-standing ties. The two museums have collaborated on research and exhibitions for many years and regularly exchange loans. Vincent van Gogh’s Field with Poppies (1889) has been part of the Kunsthalle’s collection since 1911.
