PARIS.- Lafayette Anticipations has announced its autumn exhibition program, bringing together solo presentations by artists Yu Nishimura, H閘鑞e Fauquet, and Mungo Thomson. Running concurrently, the lineup highlights three distinct artistic practices that examine memory, perception, and everyday material culture. From Nishimura’s dreamlike, marine-inspired paintings and Fauquet’s surreal sculptural investigations of photography to Thomson’s monumental subversions of analogue objects, the season offers a multifaceted exploration of contemporary landscape, form, and time.

Yu Nishimura - Towards a sea
2026, Oct. 21st - 2027, Jan. 3rd

Lafayette Anticipations presents Towards a Sea, the first institutional solo exhibition in France by Japanese painter Yu Nishimura, born in 1982 in Kanagawa, where he still lives and works. Around fifty pieces — drawings and large-scale paintings spanning ten years of practice, including new works created specifically for the show — trace his exploration of the sea as a recurring presence in his landscapes, glimpsed since childhood from train windows or half-hidden by trees and houses.

Conceived as a meditative stroll, the exhibition weaves together human and animal figures with plant and mineral motifs that overlap with the marine element. Working in oil and tempera, Nishimura transposes photographic and cinematic principles into painting, revisiting portraiture, landscape and still life; his painting extends the notion of "portrait" beyond the human figure to an animal, a lone walker, or a moving car.

Blurring and layering effects give his work a dreamlike, evanescent quality tinged with strangeness, revealing his focus on the beauty of the ordinary and the mysterious nature of beings and things. Nishimura has held recent solo shows at Cr鑦ecoeur (Paris), David Zwirner (New York) and Sadie Coles HQ (London), and his work is held in the collections of the Centre Pompidou, the Guggenheim and the Pinault Collection.

H閘鑞e Fauquet - Vivresse
2026, Oct. 21st - 2027, Jan. 3rd

On the Fondation's top floor, Vivresse is the first institutional exhibition in France dedicated to H閘鑞e Fauquet, born in 1989 in Saint-Saulve (France) and a graduate of the St鋎elschule Academy of Fine Art in Frankfurt (2015), who now lives and works in Paris.

Its title — a contraction of vie (life) and ivresse (intoxication) — evokes a state where vital force and desire become one.

Fauquet's work sets up a tension between ornamental form and a conceptual dimension bordering on Surrealism, exploring decoration, nature and artifice. Her sculptures revolve around the shell: she obscures her photographs with this three-dimensional object, mounted in extravagant frames that become portals into a symbolic space.

Her practice focuses on the residues of photography and the movement of images, extending the phenomenological approach she developed for her 2023 show Phenomena at Kunsthaus Glarus. Since 2023 she has incorporated the motif of the bubble — an unstable form drawn from advertising and scientific imagery, oscillating between transparency and reflection. Fauquet's other notable solo shows include Galerie Meyer Kainer (Vienna) and Galerie 蒬ouard Montassut (Paris).

Mungo Thomson - Monument
2026, Oct. 21st - Nov. 29th

Monument brings together two emblematic works by Californian artist Mungo Thomson, born in 1969 in Woodland (USA) and now living and working in Los Angeles, whose practice spans film, sculpture, photography and installation exploring cultural signs and analogue materials. In the Fondation's courtyard, Snowman is a monumental tower inspired by cardboard shipping tubes, turning packaging material destined to disappear into an enduring bronze sculpture.

The film Time Life Volume 15. Monument to a Period of Time in Which I Lived is the fifteenth in a series of stop-motion animations built from thousands of images taken from books — candles flashing past like snapshots drawn from religious texts, art history and interior design publications.

Together, the two works subvert the very idea of a monument: rather than commemorating historical events, they capture the everyday experience of a generation shaped by the shift from analogue to digital. A Guggenheim Fellow (2025), Thomson has recently exhibited at the Walker Art Center, the Aspen Art Museum and Karma (New York), with work held in the collections of LACMA, the Hirshhorn Museum and the Whitney Museum.
