MADRID.- For the 2026 edition of ENTER Art Fair, Alzueta Gallery will present Before the Image, a project bringing together seven artists whose work unfolds in the space between form, meaning, surface, and depth. In an age of over-information and endlessly manipulable images, art can no longer be limited to reproducing what is visible; it becomes instead a way of seeing differently, of opening fissures within the apparent and revealing what lies beneath. This proposal focuses on the moment before an image is created, when color, material, and symbol remain suspended, charged with tension and possibility.

Jordi Alcaraz explores emptiness, transparency, and disappearance through materials like glass, paper, and ink, creating delicate structures where shadow, reflection, and material tension reveal the poetic space that exists just before form fully emerges. Max Cobalto, in turn, constructs ethereal, almost cosmic atmospheres in which spheres of color hover within precise, suspended arrangements, generating a quiet architecture that balances intention, simplicity, and an almost meditative stillness. In a similar way, Bruno Oll reassembles fragments of memory, industrial elements, and discarded materials, creating immersive compositions that awaken a sense of play, inhabiting spaces that are part personal archive, part collective imagination.

Description of image

Nature and symbol emerge as parallel forces in the works of Guillem Nadal and Klas Ernflo. Nadal approaches the wave and other elemental forms as archetypes, allowing raw materiality and gravity to shape his surfaces, while Ernflo schematizes landscape into organic signs and subtle chromatic harmonies that move away from realism and closer to lived experience. Mark Bohle, drawing from graffiti and graphic language, transforms typography and everyday imagery into spontaneous yet controlled signs that border on the iconic. Finally, Andrea Torres Balaguer explores the boundary between conscious and subconscious, combining black-and-white photography with symbolic and dreamlike imagery that evokes universal narratives and poetic interpretation.

Together, these artists develop personal languages of reduction and essential elements through which meaning is condensed rather than described. Each work functions as a threshold: a place where layers compress, where appearance gives way to structure, and where the image has not yet fully settled into definition. For ENTER 2026, Alzueta Gallery envisions its booth as a suspended space: an invitation to pause, to look again, and to reflect on how meaning begins to appear and how art can remain an open and unresolved space full of possibility.
