NEW YORK, NY.- On November 13th, 2025, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry announced, for the first time in his career, he was no longer tied to a specific athletic wear brand partner.
With this unprecedented freedom, Curry embarked on a deliberate and highly curated journey, opting to wear a different pair of sneakers in nearly every game appearance throughout the remainder of the season.
Night after night, each selection ignited its own cycle of coverage within the sports and sneaker ecosystem, dissected and debated in real time, often before the final buzzer had even sounded.
His selections ranged far beyond the boundaries of basketball:
• Retro Air Jordans designed for off-court wear
• A tennis shoe made for Roger Federer
• Tributes to the women’s game and the WNBA
He rotated through Nike, Jordan Brand, Adidas, Reebok, Li-Ning, ANTA, New Balance, Puma, AND1, DaDa Supreme, On, HOKA, and more.
What ultimately fueled the phenomenon was not just the idea of “sneaker free agency,” but the intentionality behind each choice.

Now, more than four months later, Curry has partnered with Sotheby’s to auction more than 70 pairs of sneakers from this period.
Each pair will be sold individually, with proceeds benefiting the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation.
