ARCOmadrid 2026: A great showcase of international contemporary art
The International Contemporary Art Fair closes its doors this afternoon with 95,000 visitors and an economic impact of €195 million in Madrid.

MADRID.- This afternoon marked the closing of the 45th edition of ARCOmadrid, organised by IFEMA MADRID, reporting a positive outcome both in terms of visitor attendance and commercial activity. The feria once again stands out for the exceptional quality of its program, which has drawn a particularly dynamic community of national and international collectors over the past few days.

ARCOmadrid, which once again benefited from the support of the Royal Household and the presence of the King and Queen of Spain at the opening ceremony on 5 March, is expected to reach an overall attendance of 95,000 visitors. The fair has also been notable for its strong professional turnout, bringing together around 40,000 art professionals from across the world.

With the participation of 211 galleries from 30 countries, the International Contemporary Art Fair further strengthens the international standing of both the event and the city of Madrid within the global art scene, consolidating its position as a key fixture in the Spanish art market and as an important meeting and exchange point between Europe and Latin America. This edition has featured the work of around 1,300 artists, with the presence of women once again increasing to 40%, according to the report prepared by MAV (Mujeres en las Artes Visuales).

These results reinforce the strong participation figures recorded this year, which have generated an estimated economic impact of €195 million for Madrid, while also contributing to the maintenance of 1,475 jobs. All of this reaffirms ARCOmadrid as one of the most significant international events of the year in the region and highlights its role in stimulating economic activity.

In this edition, museums, institutions and major collections have further strengthened their presence, confirming important acquisitions that once again underline ARCO’s position as a leading platform for the art market and an essential meeting point for the sector.

After the first few days reserved exclusively for collectors and professionals, ARCOmadrid has recorded significant institutional and corporate acquisitions, including those by the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Fundación ARCO, the Regional Government of Madrid, the Madrid City Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM), Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani, the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, the Sorigué Foundation, and the María José Jove Foundation Art Centre, among many others.
