Özer Toraman debuts first installation in "Silent Dialogue" at Pi Artworks

ISTANBUL.- Pi Artworks Istanbul presents Özer Toraman’s solo exhibition titled Silent Dialogue between 5 March and 2 May 2026. In addition to the artist’s new works, the exhibition, which includes an installation for the first time, points to a new direction in his practice.

Silent Dialogue focuses on still and calm moments that often go unnoticed within the noise of everyday life. Through light, colour and spatial constructions, the exhibition addresses the non-verbal relationship that human beings establish within nature and their own inner world.

The artist expresses his approach to the exhibition with the following words: “Silent Dialogue does not present a narrative that attempts to produce meaning; instead, it proposes a space where the search for meaning is suspended. Here, looking and pausing are enough. The paintings wait rather than respond; they remain silent rather than attempting explanation. They invite us to walk the tightrope between looking and seeing, hearing and feeling, and remind us that the deepest dialogues begin where words completely withdraw.

Özer Toraman (b. 1989), based in Berlin and Istanbul, produces figurative paintings focusing on urban life, the body, human identity and gender. His new works inspired by urban life represent personal avatars, pairings and everyday social interactions. These works reveal the limitless possibilities of representing imagined situations, memories, desires and emotions.

Toraman presents oil paintings depicting figures situated in nature across different geographies such as Berlin, Istanbul, Lisbon, Thailand and New Mexico. He defines this series as “reimagined landscapes”. His bold simplicity and intensified use of colour position the viewer between reality and fantasy. Born in Van in 1989, Özer Toraman lives and works in Istanbul and Berlin. Between 2022 and 2024, the artist realised Pure Joy of Nature (Noh Art Contemporary, Naples, 2022) and participated in the Ateliers Höherweg artist residency programme in Düsseldorf in 2024; in the same year, he continued his production in an international context with his solo exhibition titled The Ocean in My Heart (Gallery 39+, Singapore, 2024).

Silent Dialogue can be visited at Pi Artworks Istanbul until 2 May 2026
