MEXICO CITY.- A team of Mexican archeologists have rescued a Pre-hispanic sculpture that weighs 120 kilograms and is around 2,500 old. The researchers announced that this could represent an Olmec deity. The discovery was made in the Zazacatla area, near Mexico City. According to archeologist Mauricio Castro, responsible of the works, the work is one of 23 found in last two months in this area. The sculptures portray priests, a head sculpted in stone and a mortuary offering with 12 bodies, some of which were in pieces. The sculptures that portray priests measure between 46 and 58 cm and have attributes of the Olmec dragon (the most important deity of the Olmecs.
