NEW YORK, NY.- Thaddaeus Ropac shared the news that Emilio Steinberger has joined the gallery as a Senior Director in the United States. He brings to this new role his extensive experience gained in the industry over more than 35 years in New York, working with artists – including a number who are represented by the gallery – and institutions and collectors alike. Emilio has expertise in both post-war and contemporary art, a background in curating, and has been instrumental in initiating exhibitions, commissions and acquisitions for both private and institutional collections.

Emilio will take a key role, both in supporting and developing our projects and enabling us to further our efforts across the US, including working with our global secondary market sales team. Many of the artists, estates and foundations we work with are in New York, and our work with American institutions and collectors has always been integral to the gallery’s evolution. Emilio is a consummate gallerist with an extraordinary depth of knowledge and dedication to working with artists he truly believes in, and supporting collectors with their vision. — Thaddaeus Ropac

Emilio was formerly Senior Partner at Lévy Gorvy Dayan, New York, and previously held positions as Senior Director at Robert Miller Gallery, New York; Yvon Lambert, New York; and Haunch of Venison, New York and London. He has worked with some of the leading international post-war artists, including Enrico Castellani, Gego, Lee Krasner, Yayoi Kusama, Joan Mitchell, Giuseppe Penone, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Pierre Soulages, Francisco Toledo, Günther Uecker, Tom Wesselmann and Zao Wou-ki.

I am so pleased to join Thaddaeus Ropac and his global team. He has an impeccable reputation as a gallerist, with a long-standing commitment to artists and estates. His gallery’s full support and energy dedicated to enhancing their international reputations and opening new possibilities for them is truly exceptional, and an approach I have always believed in. — Emilio Steinberger

Emilio has collaborated with some of the world’s most prestigious international institutions and organised many important exhibitions, including: Tom Wesselmann: Draws, which travelled to the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale and The Kreeger Museum, Washington, D.C.; Frank Stella: Recent Sculpture, as well as David Salle, both at Leeahn Gallery, Seoul; and Agony and Ecstasy: Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Cindy Sherman, from the Pinault Collection at SongEun ArtSpace, Seoul.

Emilio can be contacted at emilio.steinberger@ropac.net and will join the Thaddaeus Ropac team on our booth at Frieze Los Angeles 2026, where we look forward to introducing you if you aren’t already acquainted.
