Rare stained glass windows lead Roland's first 2026 auction Jan. 10th
Beaux Arts and Crafts Stained Glass Window, American circa 1900. Sold for $35,750.



GLEN COVE, NY.- A rare selection of superb stained glass windows were in the spotlight at Roland NY’s first auction of the New Year on January 10th, and turned out to be some of the highest sellers of the day. The pieces included an Attributed to John La Farge, Arts and Crafts leaded glass window, circa 1900 and a Louis Joseph Lederle gothic stained glass window, circa 1920. These, along with notable lots from other estates, were highlights of the Multi-Estates auction.

The top seller of the day was the Attributed to John La Farge (1835-1910, American) Arts and Crafts leaded glass window, circa 1900 with a turquoise colored ground and central rose-filled urn with butterfly, in a later illuminated window box back frame, unmarked. [59.5" H x 39.5" W x 6" D], which sold for $35,750, while the Louis Joseph Lederle (American, 1881-1949) gothic stained glass window, circa 1920, with inset glass pediment to upper, and a central hand-painted portrait of a woman flanked by two columns, with a glass border, signed to lower of portrait panel, set in a backlit frame. [Framed: 77" H x 59" W x 8" D], sold for $8,450.


Dario Morales (Colombian, 1944-1988) Mujer Sentada 1972. Sold for $20,800.

Contemporary Art, always well-represented at Roland, included a Dario Morales (Colombian, 1944-1988): "Mujer Sentada" 1972 - large framed oil on canvas depicting a nude seated woman titled "Mujer Sentada", 1972. Signed and dated upper right "Morales 1972". [Canvas: 63.5" H x 44.5" W; Frame: 65" H x 46" W], selling for $20,800 and a Dario Morales (1944-1988) Nude Lying Back with Pillows, pencil and watercolor on paper, initialed upper right DM 76. [Art: 29.5" H x 42.5" W, Frame: 36.75" H x 50" W]. Provenance: Aberbach Fine Art, New York. Acquired from the above by private collection, New York, 1977. Exhibited: "Morales: Oils, Pastels, Drawings," Aberbach Fine Art, New York, October - December 1977, no. 22. Sold for $5200

Property of and benefiting Columbia University in the City of New York, Former Property of the Estate of John W. Kluge. Sold for $7,800.


Black, Starr & Frost Sterling Tea & Coffee Service, 6. Sold for $9,750.

Silver also had an exceptional showing at the auction, with a Reed & Barton Sterling "French Renaissance" Flatware, "French Renaissance" pattern flatware service, some monogrammed, marks to reverse. [Total 147 ozt. excluding dinner knives and 3 hollow handled serving pieces]. Estate of Lawrence Zelner of New York City, selling for $9,880 a Black, Starr & Frost Sterling Tea & Coffee Service, 6, Black, Starr & Frost sterling silver six piece tea and coffee service, American 1874-1908, each piece of squat gourd form with scrolling acanthus leaf handles and spouts, monogrammed, marks to bases "Black, Starr & Frost 18331 and eagle", going for $9,750 and a Dominick & Haff Sterling Silver Pitcher, Dominick & Haff sterling silver floral, fruit and bird repousse pitcher, New York, 1868 - 1888, marks to reverse and engraved. [34 ozt., 8" H x 7.5" W x 6" D]. Estate of Lawrence Zelner of New York City, going for $3250.


Antique Tabriz Saber palatial rug in shades of blue, beige, and red, with fringe ends. Sold for $10,750.

Taking the lead in the jewelry arena was a Ruby, diamond and 18K white gold ring– Burma Ruby and Diamond Ring , set with a cushion-shaped brilliant and stepped-cut ruby, mark to interior shank "750". [3.7 dwt., ring size 5], ruby well saturated, red and bright, diamond H/I color, mostly VS clarity. Accompanied by a GIA Ruby Origin Report #5231565022, stating the ruby is of Burma (Myanmar) origin, which sold for $7150.

In Decorative Arts, a Tiffany Studios Favrile early Glass Vase, circa 1900, of bowl form, the collar with iridescent gold accented with oranges, peach, and subtly changing into greens and blue, overlaid with stylized feather motif, mark to base "Louis C Tiffany W2819" and with remnants of a paper label. [5" H x 6" Diameter]. Estate of Lawrence Zelner of New York City. Sold for $3900 and a Yamanaka & Co Carved Jade and Rose Quartz Box, with landscape decoration to lid and carved sides, mounted with carved rose quartz in the form of an ox, with a sterling silver hinge marked Yamanaka, sterling, of a Port Chester, New York Estate, selling for $2210.


Provincial walnut three-drawer console sideboard, 19th century. Sold for $4225.

Notables in furnishings were an Antique Tabriz / Saber palatial Rug, in shades of blue, beige, and red, with fringe ends. Having multiple borders, over all floral design [168" W x 284" L] (16.5' x 23.6'). Estate of Priscilla and Byam K Stevens Jr. Possibly signed (Iran Ghom Kalhor). Sold for $10,750 and a Provincial walnut three-drawer console sideboard, 19th century, with brass mounted drawers to upper, over a shelf at lower with three arch decorated supports. [35" H x 62" W x 16.5" D]. Sold for $4225.
