NEW YORK, NY.- The Atelier with Alina Cho will welcome fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu, MBE, for a conversation with journalist Alina Cho that will coincide with the 20-year anniversary of the designer’s eponymous house, ERDEM. The talk will take place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Tuesday, January 27, at 6 p.m. EST.

Following the release of his first book, titled ERDEM, in October 2025, Moralioglu will sit down with Cho to share new stories and insights about his inspirations and creative process—including the historical research, intricate craftsmanship, and collaborative spirit for which he’s known— the collaborators that continue to forge his approach to fashion and design, and his experience building an independent brand.

The Atelier with Alina Cho has featured notable figures from the fashion industry—including Tory Burch, Grace Coddington and Nicolas Ghesquière, Alber Elbaz, Diane von Furstenberg, Bethann Hardison with Naomi Campbell and Iman, Gabriela Hearst, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, Michael Kors, Pierpaolo Piccioli, Christopher John Rogers, Jordan Roth, Olivier Rousteing, Donatella Versace, Vera Wang, and others—in conversations that explore the intersection of fashion and art, among other topics.

Born in Montreal to a Turkish father and British mother, Erdem Moralioglu is the Creative Director and founder of the British fashion house, ERDEM. After graduating with an MA from London’s Royal College of Art in 2003, he presented his first womenswear collection in 2005 and quickly gained recognition for its poetic and modern approach to femininity.

ERDEM has received global recognition and industry accolades, including the 2010 inaugural British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Award and the 2014 BFC Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. The house opened its flagship store in Mayfair in 2015, followed by two locations in South Korea in 2024 and 2025. A second London store opened in October 2025 on Sloane Street. In 2020, Erdem was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for his contribution to the fashion industry.

Erdem has shown his collections in a series of historically and culturally significant London locations, including the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Sadler’s Wells, White Cube and the V&A Museum. In 2024, he opened Imaginary Conversations at Chatsworth, an exhibition dedicated to the process of creating the Spring Summer 24 collection and its muse, Duchess Deborah. Pieces from his collections have been exhibited globally at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the V&A Museum, and the Palais Galliera and the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Alina Cho is an Emmy Award–winning journalist covering a range of topics from presidential politics to world affairs, investigative reporting to fashion. She earned an M.S. from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and a B.A. from Boston College and also holds an honorary doctorate from Old Dominion University.

Cho is currently a contributor to CBS Sunday Morning and a producer of the Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary, Martha, on Martha Stewart. Previously, for nearly a decade, she was a National Correspondent at CNN. During her tenure at the network, she traveled twice to communist North Korea, covered the first election of President Barack Obama and was part of the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning team that covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She also hosted the recurring network specials, Fashion: Backstage Pass and Big Stars, Big Giving. Prior to her work at CNN, she held various posts at ABC and CNBC.

She is a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the 2023 recipient of the CFDA Media Award, in honor of Eugenia Sheppard, for her contributions to journalism and the fashion industry, the first Asian American to receive this honor.
