NEW YORK, NY.- Christie's announced a selection of contemporary artworks will be sold to benefit the Clooney Foundation for Justice, across both auction and private sales. Three works will be auctioned as a dedicated group during the Fall Marquee Week in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, the final live auction of the week, taking place on Thursday, November 20th. The selection consists of three works: Study by Flora Yukhnovich, Study for Troupes, Backstage I by Caroline Walker, and Stage by Ulala Imai. The private selling selection will include an outstanding example by Roni Horn.
Amal Clooney remarks, We are delighted to be partnering with Christie's and this talented group of artists to benefit the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Each artist brings a clear vision and a singular voice to their work; we are humbled by their generosity and thankful for their support of our work to wage justice in defense of free speech and women's rights.
George Clooney remarks, Whether visual, performance, music, or filmgreat art, in all forms, is a powerful force that has been shaping the framework of society for centuries. With this auction at Christie's, Amal and I look forward to building support for CFJ's critical work and showcasing these stunning examples of visual storytelling.
Rachael White Young, Head of Core Market Sales, Christie's New York, remarks, It is an honor to support the Clooney Foundation for Justice and their important work across both our auction and private sales platforms. The works by Caroline Walker, Ulala Imai, Flora Yukhnovich and Roni Horn brilliantly reflect notions of identity, humanity and personhood, informed by their own individual historiesand the poignance of each artwork becomes particularly impactful when considered in concert with the Foundation's mission: defending freedom of speech and women's rights around the world.
The property is on view at Christie's Rockefeller Center along with the full Fall Marquee Week exhibition.
