LAS VEGAS, NEV.- Gordon Murray Automotive and RM Sothebys return to Wynn Las Vegas at amfARs benefit gala on Nov. 21, to unveil one of the most exclusive offerings in modern automotive history: S1 LM Chassis #1. The S1 LM showcases the essence of Professor Gordon Murrays six decades of design mastery and debuts Special Vehicles, a new division devoted to crafting the most exclusive driver-focused cars ever built by the British marque.
The S1 LM redefines Professor Gordon Murrays enduring principles of lightness, return to beauty, and driving perfection. An evolution of the legendary McLaren F1 LM design, the S1 LM brings Professor Gordon Murrays masterpiece into the modern era with the use of exotic lightweight materials, advanced powertrain technologies, and three decades of engineering refinement.
For many collectors, the McLaren F1 LM defined an entire generation of modern supercars, becoming one of the most valuable and sought-after cars in history. Professor Gordon Murray is the living legend who shaped not only the supercar but the very philosophy of what makes a drivers machine truly special. The S1 LM Chassis #1 offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate with the original creator and help write automotive historys next chapter, an experience that is truly priceless.- Shelby Myers, Global Head of Private Sales, RM Sothebys
THE SPECIAL ONE
Building on Gordon Murrays belief that the engine is the heart of the car and represents at least half of the experience, the S1 LM places its masterpiece at the very center. The removal of the rear fan and oil cooling pack frees space to house a unique and exclusive 4.3-liter V-12, producing over 700 PS, paired with a bespoke Inconel exhaust system, wrapped in 18-karat gold-foiled heat shielding. Engine development focused on larger displacement, lighter internals, and a higher compression ratio, maximizing power, torque, and responsiveness. Engineered to rev to 12,100, the V-12 delivers a distinctive harmony through its four centrally mounted exhausts, inspired by the 1995 Le Mans winning legend.
Beyond its engineering excellence, the S1 LM carries deep personal meaning for Murray, who worked on the project during his successful recovery from cancer last year. The amount of effort and focus that you have to put into a brand new motor car, you haven't got time to think about anything else and designing this motor car was a big part of getting me through that. The S1 LM is special for all of those reasons. - Professor Gordon Murray CBE, Chairman & Chief Designer, Gordon Murray Automotive
