Christie's New York to offer The Jim Irsay Collection in a series of sales in 2026
This iconic collection comprises extraordinary objects from music, film, pop culture, sports, literature and American history, including 'the greatest guitar collection on Earth'

NEW YORK, NY.- The late Jim Irsay's world-renowned collection of hundreds of historic and culturally-significant artifacts from the worlds of music, pop culture, American history, literature, sports, and more will be offered at Christie's New York in a series of auctions beginning in March 2026.

At the center of this remarkable collection is what was described by Guitar World magazine as “The Greatest Guitar Collection on Earth,” featuring instruments and items owned and played by some of the greatest artists in music history, including John Lennon, Sir Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Jerry Garcia, Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Bo Diddley, Janis Joplin, David Gilmour, and dozens of others. The collection also includes other instruments and gear owned and played by Sir Elton John, Ringo Starr, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Jim Morrison, and more.

The collection—compiled over decades by Irsay, a philanthropist, passionate music lover, and owner and CEO of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts—also includes extraordinary sports and movie memorabilia, U.S. presidential artifacts, extremely rare books, documents, and manuscripts with a focus on American history, the “Beatnik” movement, and much more.

Free public exhibitions will accompany the sales at Christie's New York, 20 Rockefeller Plaza.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to philanthropy championed by Irsay throughout his life.

“Christie's is honored to offer this magnificent collection, so lovingly compiled, maintained, and shared by legendary collector Jim Irsay over decades,” said Julien Pradels, president of the Christie's Americans region. “These extraordinary objects will be made available to passionate collectors around the globe, who have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of history, and provide this exquisite collection its next chapter.”
