Autumn/winter 2025-26 season at MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków
Ksenia Gryckiewicz, Sisters II, 2025. Oil on canvas, 85 × 95 cm, Radosław Kotarski collection.

KRAKOW.- This autumn, MOCAK opens five exhibitions that trace the shifting edges of perception, memory, and identity. Each inhabits a threshold—between image and echo, body and landscape, day and night.

House of Day, House of Night: Works from the Collection of Radosław Kotarski
October 25, 2025–February 15, 2026
Curator: Martyna Sobczyk

Gathering more than thirty artists from Poland, Belarus, Canada, and Japan, the exhibition transforms a private collection into a landscape of domestic unease. The title, taken from a novel by Olga Tokarczuk, evokes the permeability of light and shadow, of inner and outer worlds. The paintings speak of the home as a space that is both refuge and trap—a porous architecture of emotion, dream, and confinement. This is the first such extensive presentation of the collection of one of the most fascinating young collectors, offering a unique journey through the labyrinths of thought and imagery.

Filip Rybkowki: A Theory of Clouds
October 25, 2025–February 15, 2026
Curator: Wojciech Szymański

Exhibition of intermedia works by the young Kraków-based artist, presenting his original take on the subject of representation and the cultural consequences of historical events.World War I is no more than a departure point for Filip Rybkowski’s solo exhibition: A Theory of Clouds. The artist is primarily interested in its cultural consequences: fragmentation, dismembering and defamiliarisation of the body and the experience of historical and social reality, modern crises of representation and masculinity, as well as post-war returns to order—both artistic and bio-political—marked by the birth of fascism.

Konrad Smoleński: Everything Was Forever, Until It Was No More
October 25, 2025–January 25, 2026
Curators: Daniel Muzyczuk, Agnieszka Pindera

The project was created in 2013 for an exhibition at the Polish Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. It was then presented at the Centre Pasquart in Biel/Bienne and at the Zachęta Gallery in Warsaw. Each time Smoleński’s installation was recreated, a new version was proposed, corresponding to the site-specific conditions. Smoleński created an immersive sound installation, introducing audiences to the sensual quality of sound and blurring the boundaries between the music stage and the art space. An important element of Everything Was Forever... were also musical performances with invited artists—in duet with the installation. This time the exhibition is the part of Sacrum Profanum Festival and Eufonie Festival.

Sana Shahmuradova Tanska: The Rapture
October 25, 2025–February 15, 2026
Curator: Adam Budak

This is the first solo exhibition of one of the most distinctive artists of the youngest generation of Ukrainian art, Sana Shahmuradova Tanska. The exhibition The Rapture includes a newly created painting installation comprising ten individual works that explore the fluidity of identity, the deep bonds between people and the earth, and the resilience of the human spirit. This is not only the first solo exhibition, but also the first institutional exhibition of the young Ukrainian artist, offering a poetic interpretation of intergenerational trauma and a reflection on identity, belonging, and uprootedness.

Aleksander Janicki: Poles – A Self-Portrait 2022–2025
October 25, 2025–February 15, 2026
Curator: Aleksander Janicki

The exhibition assembles diverse testimonies of Polish hospitality during a time of trial: an outbreak of full scale Russian invasion in Ukraine. An immersive multimedia installation—an image constructed from statistical data projections, juxtaposed with recorded accounts of rescuers and survivors, and accompanied by a cappella singing referencing the air-raid alarms in Kyiv—forms a multi-layered structure, a kind of palimpsest in which the viewer becomes the subject.
