Tiffany leads the way at Roland Auctions NY September 20th sale
Tiffany Studios Copper and Enamel Vase, 1898 - 1902. Sold for $26,000.



GLEN COVE, NY.- It was Tiffany topping the sale at Roland Auctions NY September 20th Multi-Estates auction, with a very rare Tiffany Studios Copper and Enamel Vase, circa 1898 – 1902, from one of several prominent estates and collections represented in the auction. The vase was joined by an exquisite, very unique After Louis C Tiffany "Cobweb" Bronze & Glass Lamp, circa 1980s, Contemporary Art and jewelry pieces all coming in as top sellers of the day.

Leading the way was the Tiffany Studios Copper and Enamel Vase, Tiffany Studios copper and enamel vase, 1898 - 1902, of slight baluster form, the collar of overlapping leaves above pink milkweed flower clusters against an iridescent gold ground, marked to base "SG 139" (for Stourbridge Glass Company, Tiffany's enamelware Division). [8.75" H x 7" Diameter], selling for $26,000, while an After Louis C Tiffany "Cobweb" Bronze & Glass Lamp, After Louis Comfort Tiffany bronze, glass and lead "Cobweb" lamp, circa 1980s, spurious mark to lamp shape "Tiffany Studios New York". [31" H x 19" W"], sold for $6500.

Contemporary Art always shows well at Roland, with notable pieces including a Sean Scully (Irish/American, b. 1945) Change #3 Acrylic/Masking Tape on Paper 1975, acrylic and masking tape on paper, from the artist's series of 50 works made in New York City, titled, dated, and signed Sean Scully at lower, and in a frame. [Sight: 12" H x 22" W; frame: 24.75" H x 37" W], going for $9,100, a Horst Antes (German, b. 1936) "Gardner" Acrylic on Paper, "Gardner (Prav Mit Blumen)" 1978, in a frame, signed Horst G. in graphite to lower left and titled to verso, with a label from the Nassau Museum of Art. [Work: 15.75" Square; framed: 23.5" Square]. From the estate of Laura Leonard Ault, which sold for $7800 and a Hugues Pissaro dit Pomi Seascape Oil on Canvas, Hugues Pissarro dit Pommmie (French, b. 1935) Mar Bleue / Maree Montante, executed 2015, oil on canvas applied with impasto, signed lower right Hugues Pissarro dit Pomie, [51.25" H x 38.25" W]. Acquired from Stern Pissarro Gallery, 66 James Street, London 8/1/2019 with certificate of authenticity from the artist. Property from the Estate of Sylvia Andree Dresner, selling for $5850.

In the Mid-Century Modern arena, Roland offered Mid-Century Philip & Kelvin LaVerne Bronze Coffee Table, Patinated Bronze Acid Etched Coffee Table, "Muses". With etched signature to corner. [16.75" H x 48" W x 36" D]. From the Estate of Ronald Blatt, owner of Blatt Billiards New York City, which sold for $5200 and a James Mont Chinoiserie Black Lacquered Sideboard, circa 1960, with two drawers over four cabinets, marked James Mont to interior drawer, accompanied by an original receipt from James Mont. [32" H x 76" W x 18" D]. From Cedarhurst Long Island Collection, going for $2080.

Decorative Arts included a Lorraine (b. 1952) Vail "Pet" Bronze Sculpture, 1993, "Pet" patinated and painted bronze sculpture, 1993, of a chimera holding a man, on a metal pedestal. [42" H x 15" W x 36" D]. From the distinguished collection of Neil Zukerman. Sold for $4550 and a Russian Malachite Bowl on a Bronze Dore Base, 19th/early 20th century, with foliate decoration at base and cartouche decorated feet. [5.5" H x 13" Diameter], sold for $4485.
