LONDON, ENGLAND.- The Great Art Fair carried out a poll for the top list of favorite artists in the British artistic community. The top place went to Lucien Freud, followed by Howard Hodgkin, David Hockney, JMW Turner, Antoni Tapies, Rembrandt, Jack Vettriano, Barbara Rae, Frank Auerbach, and Van Gogh in tenth place.
The Young British Artists such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, and Chris Ofili are not in the top ten list. There was only one vote for Damien Hirst of the 500 artists that were polled. Emin and Ofili did not get any votes at all. Other Old Masters such as Botticelli, Titian, Velasquez, Goya, Vermeer, and Da Vinci were also overlooked.
A Great Art Fair spokesman said, We have seen many statistics and results about the British public's favourite artistic talents, and can read countless critic's profiles expounding the virtues of a variety of names in art, but this is the first poll to be conducted amongst working artists.
