$100,000 Ramsay Art Prize finalists announced for 2025 |

ADELAIDE.- The Art Gallery of South Australia today announced the twenty-two finalists for the Ramsay Art Prize 2025 a $100,000 acquisitive prize for contemporary Australian artists under the age of forty, supported in perpetuity by the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation. In this fifth iteration of the Ramsay Art Prize, the finalists are:

A record number of entries were received for this years prize, with more than 500 artists from around the country submitting their best work created over the past year. In 2025, the expert judging panel was comprised of leading Australian artist Michael Zavros; Associate Professor and Program Director of Visual Art at the Queensland College of Art and Design and recipient of the inaugural Ramsay Art Prizes Peoples Choice Prize, Julie Fragar; and Emma Fey, Deputy Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia.
AGSA Director, Jason Smith, says, In its fifth iteration, the Ramsay Art Prize has cemented itself as an important contemporary art platform, celebrating the vitality and talent of artistic practice in Australia right now. Thanks to the enduring support of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation, the Ramsay Art Prize fosters excellence and ambition, providing a platform that encourages contemporary artists to create their best work, unrestrained in scale and medium.
James & Diana Ramsay Foundation Executive Director, Kerry de Lorme, says, We are thrilled to celebrate the fifth Ramsay Art Prize in 2025. The Ramsay Art Prize has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2017, presenting the work of Australias most talented artists under forty and offering them a remarkable opportunity to exhibit in a state art gallery.
All works selected as finalists will be exhibited in a major exhibition at AGSA from 31 May until 31 August 2025. The winner of the 2025 Ramsay Art Prize will be announced on Friday 30 May 2025, with the winning work acquired into AGSAs collection and joining works by past recipients Sarah Contos (2017), Vincent Namatjira (2019), Kate Bohunnis (2021) and Ida Sophia (2023).
The Ramsay Art Prize 2025 exhibition also includes a Peoples Choice Prize, supported by sponsor LK. The Peoples Choice Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $15,000 chosen by public vote and announced on Friday 15 August 2025.
