NEW YORK, NY.- Sous Les Etoiles Gallery is presenting The Ordinary Space in Between, the first U.S solo exhibition by Swiss artist Pe Lang (b. 1974). Conceived as a space of embodied flux and analog certainty, the exhibition draws viewers into an oscillation between precision mechanics and minimal formalisms, inviting contemplation of time, motion, and materiel transformation.

Lang’s work delves into new modes of sensory experience, exploring non-digital technologies and material science while drawing from Switzerland’s rich heritage of watchmaking and precision engineering. His practice reflects this cultural lineage and contributes to contemporary discussions on post-digitalism, where the physical and the mechanical reclaim their place in an increasingly virtual world. By incorporating slowly evolving chaotic systems, Lang introduces controlled uncertainty into the creative procesan element of unpredictability that mirrors both scientific discovery and artistic spontaneity. This delicate balance between randomness and structure prevents stagnation, inducing a flow state that invites participants into an experience of fluidity, presence, and deep immersion. In an era dominated by digital interfaces and virtual experiences, The Ordinary Space in Between reconnects with the human scale, embracing the directness of visible mechanics—the gears, levers, and traces of human craftsmanship. It is a return to the tangible, the authentic, and the human.

As part of Lang’s inaugural solo exhibition, a selection of sound sculptures created in collaboration with Greek-born sound artist and composer Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri (b. in 1974) are featured. The duo was recently honored with the prestigious Aurélie Nemours Prize (2021) for their innovative solo and collaborative contributions to the sound arts.

Lang has exhibited widely in Europe and internationally, including the Museum Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich; the Fondation Vasarely, Aix-en-Provence, France; the Kunsthal Rotterdam, the Netherlands; EMMA, Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Espoo, Finland; ICC, Tokyo, Japan; Aarhus Kunsthalle, Denmark; National Art Museum of China, Beijing; Ashmolean Museum, Oxford; Trondheim Art Museum, Norway; MuDA museum of digital art, Zurich; Chronus Art Center, Shanghai; Fondazione Venezia Servizi, Venice; Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, New York; Kunsthalle Luzern, Switzerland; HeK House of Electronic Arts, Basel; Centre d’Art Santa Mònica, Barcelona, Spain. Art Basel, Switzerland and the Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin.
