RSA HOSPITALFIELD RESIDENCIES - Deadline 1 December
RSA SALVESEN TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP - Deadline 17 January

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND.- The Royal Scottish Academy is calling all artists to apply for our annual Hospitalfield Residencies and Alastair Salvesen Travel Scholarship. RSA ALASTAIR SALVESEN ART SCHOLARSHIP

£10,000 painting & travel award. The largest independent Art Scholarship in Scotland funds up to 6 months travel and research and culminates in a solo exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. Sponsored by the Alastair Salvesen Trust in association with the RSA, it is a major initiative intended to encourage young Scottish painters who have made the transition from college to a working environment. Deadline - 17 January 2007. Applicants are normally aged between 25 and 35 and must be: Painters who have trained at one of the four Scottish colleges of art; Currently living and working in Scotland; Worked for a minimum of three years outside a college or student environment; Had work accepted for an Annual Exhibition by a recognised art organisation or gallery.

RSA HOSPITALFIELD RESIDENCIES (3 months)

The RSA offers three residencies to early-career professional artists for a period of study and practice at Hospitalfield House near Arbroath. The Scottish Arts Council also assists each artist with a £1666 grant. Accommodation is provided in individual study/bedrooms with shared kitchen facilities. An allowance for food is also provided and meals are available when the main kitchens are running. For residents who have particular interests in photography and printmaking, the Hospitalfield Trust has close relationships with Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and the Printmakers Workshop at Dundee Contemporary Art, which may be able to provide access to specialist facilities. Deadline - 1 December 2006.

Applicants are required to be: Scottish or have studied in Scotland; Working or permanently based in the country; Out of full time education by at least one year.
