BOULDER, CO.- The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art presents the exhibit DJRABBI through January 27,2007. "Society of the Spectacle (A Digital Remix)" a ten-minute DVD art-loop uses source material from the writing, images, recordings, and other psychogeographical wanderings of arch-Situationist and French philosopher Guy Debord. The art work is composed by members of DJRABBI, a digital art collective of political activists, and includes visual remixes by Rick Silva, the sonic detours of Trace Reddell, and original subtitles by Mark Amerika.

Mark Amerika will present a sampling of his digital art work composed over the last 15 years. The salon will include a mix of Amerika's personal narrative, philosophical inquiry, spontaneous theories, and cyberpunk Fictions. The presentation will locate the emerging spaces where new media artists operate when distributing their digital personas.

Mark Amerika, who has been named a "Time Magazine 100 Innovator," has had four retrospectives of his digital art work. He is a Professor of Art and Art History at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Amerika's net art, DVD surround sound installations, and VJ performances have been exhibited and featured all over the world including the Whitney Biennial, the ICA in London, and the Walker Arts Center. His DVD installation CODEWORK is part of the permanent collection at the Denver Art Museum. He is the author of two novels, has edited three published anthologies, and is the Founder and Publisher of the Alt-X Online Network, a net art and new media writing site started on the Internet in 1993 (www.altx.com). His forthcoming book of artist writings, entitled META/DATA: A Digital Poetics, will be published by The MIT Press later this year. Mark Amerika is currently directing his first feature-length film, entitled MY AUTOEROTIC MUSE. This salon is co-presented by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and Boulder Digital Arts.
