Fanny Hauser is new Director of Kunsthalle Zürich
Fanny Hauser (b. 1988, Vienna) has been Assistant Director at the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst in Aachen since May 2022.



ZURICH.- Kunsthalle Zürich announced the appointment of Fanny Hauser as its new Director from January 2025. She succeeds Daniel Baumann, who will be taking on new projects as an independent curator after ten very successful years in the role.

Michael Ringier, President of the selection committee and the Verein Kunsthalle Zürich, commented on the appointment as follows: “Fanny Hauser's career has been characterised by great initiative and enthusiasm for contemporary art. She is not only a co-founder of a highly respected art association in Vienna, but has also worked for major exhibitions such as Documenta 14. She is equally familiar with everyday museum operation thanks to her management responsibilities as Assistant Director of the Ludwig Forum for International Art in Aachen. She knows Switzerland and its peculiarities through her work at the Gebert Foundation in Rapperswil and is very familiar with the programme at Kunsthalle Zürich thanks to countless visits to Zürich.”

Fanny Hauser (b. 1988, Vienna) has been Assistant Director at the Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst in Aachen since May 2022, where she curated the highly acclaimed survey exhibition Katalin Ladik. Ooooooooo-pus initiated by Hendrik Folkerts, and managed numerous collaborations and structural transformation processes at the museum. In 2016, together with Carolina Nöbauer, Denise Helene Sumi and Franziska Sophie Wildförster, she founded the Vienna-based art association Kevin Space, where she co-curated solo exhibitions by Ioana Nemeș, Peng Zuqiang, Evelyn Taocheng Wang and Lydia Ourahmane, among others. Before becoming a curatorial fellow of the Gebert Foundation for Culture in Rapperswil together with Viktor Neumann from 2019 to 2021, she worked as a curatorial assistant at documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel from June 2016 to November 2017 under the artistic direction of Adam Szymczyk. There she was involved in the realisation of numerous new artistic productions and the moving image programme. She studied art history and comparative literature in Vienna and Paris and was a lecturer at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 2021 to 2022.
