DUISBURG, GERMANY.- Foundation Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum Center of International Sculpture presents Manfred Vogel - Works on Paper 1970-2006, curated by Christoph Brockhaus. Manfred Vogel, born in Bottrop, 1946, July 8th has been a Wilhelm Lehmbruck stipend from 1979-81 . Since that time he lives and works in Duisburg. He has been a master-student of Gerhard Hoehme and is from 1979 on teacher, first in Krefeld at the FH Niederrhein-Krefeld, later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf and today as a Professor at the University Duisburg-Essen, in art and design, Essen. He's the most successful artist in Duisburg at present.
Following a single exhibition of his drawings in the temorary exhibition room of the Lehmbruck Museum in 1995 from now on will be presented in the Heerich-Room ca. 70 works on paper, so a block of early works, and the the cycles "Parisblätter", 2002 and "Zu Ostern", 2006.
The catalogue documented the exhibition cycle "Manfred Vogel. Geräteturner von Geburt an", which has been shown in the former Reichsabtei, Aachen/Kornelimünster, in the Kunstverein Augsburg, in the Kunstmuseum Alte Post, Mülheim an der Ruhr, in the Stiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg, in the University Duisburg-Essen and the Galerie Epikur, Wuppertal.
