CAMBRIDGE, MASS.- The List Visual Arts Center at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA announced that Kristen Wawruck has been selected as the new Assistant Director. Kristen joins the MIT List team, and will begin her work on May 28th. Kristen held positions at the Swiss Institute in New York as the Deputy Director, where she led all aspects of organizational strategy, outreach, fundraising, and operations. She played a key role in the Swiss Institute’s $5M capital campaign and relocating the organization to its new home in East Village, NY in 2018. Prior to her tenure at the Swiss Institute, Kristen worked as the Grants Director at the New Museum in NY from 2010-2015. Additionally, she has a connection to Boston/Cambridge, having worked at the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston from 2007-2012 as their Manager, Government & Foundation Relations. She also volunteers as the Board Chair of the Teen Art Salon in Long Island City, an institution that helps adolescents to develop professional individual studio practices. “My family is thrilled to be returning to the Boston area, the region that had such an impact on my professional growth. I look forward to working with the entire staff and the MIT community to help contribute to the List Center’s overall mission and to enhance the museum’s profile. It’s an institution that I’ve longed admired,” said Kristen Wawruck.

Maria Lostumbo recently joined the List Visual Arts Center as the new Permanent Collections Registrar. Previously, Maria held Registrar positions at Gladstone Gallery, James Fuentes LLC, Pace Gallery, and the New Museum of Contemporary Art. With Maria’s depth of experience, she now oversees a dynamic collection utilized by MIT students, faculty, and staff, in addition to maintaining the robust public art collection.

Chris Hoodlet joined the List Visual Arts Center team as the Communications Manager. Previously, he served as the Development Operations Manager at the Harvard Art Museums. Prior to his role at Harvard, he dedicated eight years to the Institute of ContemporaryArt/Boston, where he excelled as the Associate Director of Membership and Database Marketing. During his tenure, he significantly expanded the institution’s membership program to historic levels.
